SHIVAM PATEL
Introducing our Design Engineering Intern, Shivam Patel! He currently attends the University of Florida majoring in mechanical engineering and plans to graduate this December. After graduation, Shivam is looking for a company where employees enjoy their job, and there is a balance between work and play. When asked what his dream career is, he replied, “Designing components for space travel or dealing with orbital guidance. I have loved everything space for as long as I can remember, so I yearn to work in that industry.”
Shivam is currently working on designing a new adjustable head for the Lift and Slide Door, a product sold through our innovation hub called the iLab. His favorite part about working at PGT Innovations is the atmosphere, he says, “Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. They treat you like you’re family and make sure you feel at home.” His advice to other interns is don’t be afraid to ask questions once you’ve first taken your best shot at the task. One overall lesson Shivam has learned from his internship thus far is the importance of an open mind and communication.

- Fun Fact: I rode on an elephant up a mountain when I was a kid. Also rode a camel, which proceeded to spit at me when I got off it.

- If you could be any superhero, who would you be? Iron Man. He’s a genius philanthropist, who makes machinery to fight with. He’s also incredibly wealthy, which is always a plus!
